How we run Karaoke Houston on Karatrack+AI

Full disclosure first: Karaoke Houston Café & Bar is our own venue. We bought it in 2023, and since June 7, 2026 every karaoke night there has run on Karatrack+AI — six nights a week, with the same software every customer downloads. This page is not a testimonial; it is a description of the heaviest real-world use the product gets, so you can judge what that testing is worth to you.

The numbers

Where Karatrack+AI runs live shows every week, as of November 2026.

  • ✓Karaoke Houston Café & Bar, Houston, Texas — six nights a week on the venue's installed system
  • ✓The Tap, College Station, Texas — at least two nights a week on our founder's mobile rig
  • ✓A second Houston show hosted by one of our DJs — two nights a week
  • ✓Our founder's father-in-law's shows, on his own set-up — two nights a week
  • ✓A beta tester's shows in Florida — two nights a week on pre-release builds
  • ✓Live shows on Karatrack+AI since June 7, 2026 — roughly fourteen shows a week across five different set-ups

Why six nights a week matters to you

Most karaoke software is tested by its developers on a desk. Ours is tested by a bar full of singers on a Saturday night, then again on Sunday, then again on Monday. A rotation bug, a stuck loading spinner on an older laptop, a filler track that repeats, a singer screen that goes black — those get found at our own show, usually by us, and they get fixed before the next release because we have to host on it again tomorrow.

The five set-ups are different on purpose. The venue runs an installed system with a dedicated singer screen; the College Station show is a mobile rig packed and unpacked every time; the father-in-law's rig is an older laptop run by a host who has worked karaoke since cassette tapes; the Florida tester runs pre-release builds on hardware we have never touched. If a feature only works on the developer's machine, one of those five finds out within a week.

What a night at Karaoke Houston runs on

Nothing here is a special build. Every tool below is in the Karatrack+AI you download, and it is the same way we use it at the venue.

Singer rotation with a marker and an undo

New singers land at the end of the current round, linked singers stay together, and Restore Rotation rolls the queue back when a name is called in the wrong order. The red ? note on a singer card explains any placement a singer asks about.

A singer screen the room can read

The karaoke video, who is up next with a realistic wait estimate, artwork between singers, and a scrolling banner for the night's shout-outs and specials.

Filler music that fades itself

The built-in DJ panel plays between singers and fades out as the next track starts, so the host is talking to the room, not babysitting a playlist.

Sign-ups without paper slips

Singers can sign up and request from their phones through Karameet, from a Karakiosk, or from a tablet handed across the bar with Mini Kiosk. The host accepts, declines or edits before anything lands in the rotation.

Per-singer memory

Regulars' key and tempo come back automatically, and their history shows what they sang last time — which, at a six-night venue, is most of the room.

Saved shows

The venue's look, rotation rules, request settings and playlist load as one saved show, so a different host on a different night gets the same set-up.

What this page is not

It is not an independent review. We own the venue, we wrote the software, and we are the ones hosting on it. Treat it as a statement of how heavily the product is used by its makers, nothing more. For an outside view, read our comparison pages, which say by name when another product is the better fit, or run the 14-day trial at your own show — that is the only test that counts for your room.

Case study: common questions

+Is Karaoke Houston Café & Bar really owned by the people who make Karatrack?

Yes. Rush Monkey LLC, the company behind Karatrack, bought the venue in 2023. That is why this page is labelled a case study rather than a customer story.

+Does the venue run a special version of the software?

No. The venue runs the same released builds every customer gets; the Florida beta tester runs pre-release builds. Fixes found at the venue ship to everyone through the Updates page.

+How long has the venue been on Karatrack+AI?

Live shows have run on Karatrack+AI since June 7, 2026, six nights a week at the venue, plus the mobile and partner shows listed above.

+Can I visit and see it running?

Yes. Karaoke Houston Café & Bar is open to the public six nights a week in Houston, Texas. Come sing and watch the host screen from the booth if you ask.
